WATERTOWN – Lawrence Marcil, 91, of Mount Fair Drive, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2021 in the VITAS unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Jeannine (Moreau) Marcil.

Lawrence was born on October 24, 1929 to the late Louis and Cédia (Leduc) Marcil in Quebec, Canada. He moved to the United States in 1948 and married the love of his life, Jeannie Moreau, on May 7, 1949 at St. Anne’s Church in Waterbury. He worked for Scovill Manufacturing for many years as a machine fitter and was also active in the real estate industry.

He loved traveling and playing golf, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was particularly fascinated by his grandchildren, who gave so much joy to his life.

Lawrence leaves behind his two daughters, Debra and her husband Martin Stokes of Venice, Florida, and Linda and her husband, John M. Lynch of Watertown, with whom he previously lived; his three grandchildren, Kara Stokes, John L. Lynch and Michael, and his wife Meredith Lynch; and his two great-grandchildren, Lillyanna Stokes and Kayden (Stokes) Salvatore.

A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. John’s the Evangelist Church, 574 Main St., Watertown. Friends and family are invited to meet directly at church. The burial takes place in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
