Julia M Ward 1928-2022 | News, Sports, Jobs

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – Julia M. Ward, 93, of Ohio, died peacefully at her home on Friday, January 7, 2022.

Julia Marie Ward was born in Youngstown on December 20, 1928, the fourth of five daughters of Albert and Jenny Rudolphi Dalessandro. They all preceded her in death.

Julia married Joe Ward, a graduate of Youngstown State. They left large Italian and Irish families to move to Illinois for his job at United Airlines. They traveled frequently, including many trips back to Ohio and one to Italy to visit the city where Julia’s mother was born. Julia lost her husband at the age of only 66.

After her children went to school, Julia started a successful career in the real estate industry. She mainly worked for Starck Real Estate until she was 80 and really loved selling the homes of her many friends.

She was devoted to her family and being 100 percent Italian, she always made them lots of pasta. She loved attending her sporting events, graduations and weddings where she danced with the best.

Julia is survived by her children Debbie (Alan) Fleck of Irving, Texas, Ann Basanez of Arlington Heights, Becky (Mark) Damore of Culver, Indiana, Joseph (Lynn) Ward of Lake Barrington, and Mary (Tim) Wilcken of Rochester, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many extended relatives in Ohio, including cousin Annamarie Brogley, who was like a sister to her.

Julia was lovingly cared for by Diana Flores.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday 30 April 2022 at St Edward Church, followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Edward Church, 238 Tod Lane, Youngstown, OH 44505, saintedwardparish.org.
