Heritage Bank Plc MD/CEO Ifie Sekibo said the most effective way to promote economic prosperity and peace in the country is to start addressing leadership challenges and uncertainty.
Sekibo made the statement during the second edition of Forum 2022, a one-day international colloquium recently organized by the Men’s League of Christ Church Port Harcourt, themed “What Do Nigerians Want?” thought extensively about what kind of leadership the country needs and how the country can be rescued from its current debacle.
Sekibo said: “Nigeria’s economy needs to embark to achieve the transformation the country needs, there was an urgent need to address the insecurity which he believes is the basis of prosperity as no nation can achieve much where they are is not peace.
Sekibo, represented by Divisional Head, Strategy & Business Solutions, Segun
Akanji emphasized that for security reasons, an established functional and value-added identity system must be in place.
He added: “At a higher level, I think one of the things we need to achieve as a country is the issue of functional and value-added identity management, which is still a long way from us, even though some people know we have it BVN, NIMC and a few other identity capture systems, but they weren’t as functional and added value as the social security number that most people in advanced economies carry,” he said.
Sekibo further explained that in order to achieve a prosperous economy, Nigeria must find ways to build a dual-cycle economy built on three pillars. According to him, we need to focus on building a dual circular economy where we can increase domestic production and demand by ensuring the masses are employed.
