Church, foundation strengthen, sensitize rural community in the state of Oyo

Ibadan Youth Province 4 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and the Savingcross Justicepoint Foundation (SJF) have come together to feed, donate, empower and raise awareness among the people of the Bakatari community in Oyo state.

The event, which took place at the Anglican elementary school Bakatari, carried the keyword “Let’s go fishing” with the theme “Indescribable gift”.

According to one of the RCCG pastors at the event, Olaiya Bayo-Fati, the essence of church work was giving back and giving back to society, especially rural churches.

Bayo-Fati noted that not only are they feeding people the Word of God this Christmas season, but they are also taking the opportunity to feed them food, donate text and booklets to elementary school students, teach skills to women, and provide basic medical knowledge Treatments of the sick among them.

Bayo-Fati thanked SJF for the partnership and said: “We have come here to share the light of Christ and to show compassion to the people. We pray that this outreach will take place in many churches where Christ is still unknown. “
Mary Daramola, the nurse responsible for medical care, said she was pleased with the number of people who turned up for medical advice and treatment. She found that over 200 people were cared for during the medical exercise.

“We did some minor medical exams like malaria, sugar and blood pressure tests. We treated people with malaria and coughs and gave medication to people with high blood pressure, ”Daramola said. “We also advised them on a healthy lifestyle and advised them to go to health centers or hospitals if necessary.”

SJF Founder and Executive Director, who also works as a lawyer, Oluwaseun Folauwon-Banjo, recognized the Ibadan RCCG Youth Province 4 for partnering with their public relations organization, noting that the partnership is essential, especially this Christmas season may be.

She also noted that the partnership and their presence were a way to extend their legal / humanitarian, social services and benevolence to the people, especially the vulnerable and needy women and children among them.

Folauwon-Banjo and her team trained and sensitized the women on how to protect their children from sexual and domestic violence. They also informed them about how to get help in cases of violence and abuse and advised them of their legal rights.

After the awareness-raising talk, the SJF team strengthened the women with skills such as making liquid soap.

“We believe that if you take this empowerment seriously, it can be a livelihood for you,” said Folajuwon-Banjo. “It doesn’t cost a lot to set up a company like this. With just one token from N4500, you can start it up and put food on your tables. “

Christ Anglican Primary School Principal Mr. Olayiwola Agunbiade appreciated the RCCG and SJF for reaching out to their school and community. He stated that the medical care will benefit the people and the books will help the children in their academic education.

“With the books donated, more students will come when school resumes for the second semester because they believe this program will be an ongoing one,” said Agunbiade. “I pray that God will give the organizers the strength to continue this program.”

The school’s assistant director, Ms. Taiwo Arogundade, said she was delighted with what the Church and Foundation have done for her. She explained that the books and other items donated to the children will help them study for the next semester.

“We pray that God Almighty will give us the opportunity to experience this kind of gesture next year,” said Arogundade. “And for the people who organized this program, God will enrich their pockets.”

During the program, the children were engaged in songs, dance, drama, and other social activities.
