Agape Love Church plans community event in honor of the fathers on Sunday | Local news
The congregation is invited to spend part of their Father’s Day in Hobbs Park on Sunday.
Agape Love Christian Ministries is sponsoring a 1pm to 3pm picnic in the park, 4500 30th Avenue, with a full selection of free, family-oriented events – and food – on the agenda.
The traditional summer barbecue dish of hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, cookies, and watermelon is offered along with multiple games, activities, and live music, said Agape Pastor Monroe Mitchell III.
There are also plans for a balloon artist, a number of local providers and community partners to provide information about their services, and a mobile bandstand for dance and other events during the picnic.
Agape is affiliated with the Kenosha Parks Alliance, Mitchell said. Other agape members, including Jo Wynn from Walkin ‘in My Shows, are expected to be in attendance.
“Basically, it’s about showing respect for the fathers and that the families, the mothers, the wives, the friends and the children bring out their dad,” said Mitchell. “We want to have a good and fun time.”
Mitchell said the event was designed to help Kenosha continue his healing from events over the past 18 months or so.
